The toy industry is one of the most polluting in the world. Most toys are made from plastic which is difficult to recycle.

Now, a small idea in Italy to give old dolls a new lease of life has become a huge success.

BBCで、パンデミック中に自分の好きなものを再発見し、フェイスブックで古い人形を送ってほしいと呼びかけ、古い人形を新しい人形に作り替えているイタリア人の女性を紹介しています。

今現在送られてきた人形が手元に200体あると話す彼女は、洗って乾かして、必要なら髪の毛を切ったり、顔にペイントしたり、新しい洋服を作って着せて、新しい人形に作り替え、それを寄付しています。

どうして resell しないで donate するの ? という質問に、
“Because for the pandemic situation, I think it’s not the right time to ask for something.  It’s the time to give something when people need it.”
