日本代表チームとミャンマー代表チームのサッカーの試合がテレビで放映されていましたね。

Myanmar suffered a bruising 10-0 defeat to Japan on Friday in a qualifier for the 2022 soccer World Cup. The Southeast Asian team’s first international match since February’s coup was marked by protests on and off the pitch.

クーデター後初めての国際試合ですね。国が大変な状態なのに、サッカー？と思いました。

At least 10 players from the Myanmar squad refused to take the field. During the national anthem, the substitute goalkeeper gave the three-finger salute associated with the protests.

3本指を立てるのは独裁への反対を意味するサインですね。タイの抗議運動でも使われていますね。このサインは、アメリカ映画 ‘The Hunger Games’ に出てくるのだそうです。

代表への参加を辞退した人の他、在日ミャンマー人達は会場周辺に集まり軍への抗議をしたそうです。

ミャンマーサッカー連盟は、代表チームへの参加を辞退した人には、その後の試合への出場を停止させる可能性があると警告したそうです。
